Bravecto is used to kill adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations and the treatment and control of tick infestations. Bravecto is also indicated for the treatment and control of Lone Star tick infestations.
Side effects that usually are not serious include: Vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, or hair loss (with topical product). If any of these signs are severe, worsen, or continue to be a problem, contact your veterinarian. Side effects that may be serious or indicate a serious problem: Vomiting that does not stop, complete loss of appetite, tremors, seizures, difficulty walking (eg, weakness, stumbling). If you see any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately.
No adverse reactions were observed from the concurrent use of Bravecto with other medications.
Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures. Seizures have been reported in dogs receiving fluralaner, even in dogs without a history of seizures. Bravecto has not been shown to be effective for 12 weeks duration in puppies less than 6 months of age. Bravecto is not effective against Lone Star ticks beyond 8 weeks of dosing.

How safe is Bravecto Chew for Dogs and Bravecto Chew for Cats?
Bravecto has a wide margin of safety in dogs who weigh at least 4.4 lbs. and cats who weigh at least 2.6 lbs. It is also approved for puppies and kittens aged 6 months or older. Bravecto Chew for Dogs is approved for use in breeding, pregnant, and lactating dogs. My dog is taking some medications for another condition as well right now.
Is it safe to give him/her Bravecto?
There are no problems reported in field trials in dogs and cats that received Bravecto alongside other commonly used medicines. However, your veterinarian is your pet's health care expert, so it is always best to discuss all of your pet's treatments with them, whether prescription or over-the-counter supplements.
Does water, grooming or hair length have an effect on how Bravecto chew works?
Immediately bathing, shampooing, or swimming should not affect how well Bravecto Chew works, as it is not a topical treatment. Coat length and grooming or brushing also have no impact on how well it works.
Do Bravecto Chews for Dogs Tablets contain wheat or gluten?

How do I apply the Bravecto Topical to my cat?
Apply the dose to one spot on the skin on the back of the neck (push back fur if necessary). This will provide full body protection for 12 weeks.
Can Bravecto be used in Collies?
In a well-controlled laboratory study, Bravecto was shown to be safe in Collies known to be MDR-1 gene-deficient. Collies with the defect were administered 3 times the deliverable dose and had no adverse events.
What happens if the dog vomits after taking the Bravecto Chew?
If vomiting occurs, check with your veterinarian to decide whether to re-dose or not; however, if an otherwise healthy dog vomits within 3 hours of receiving Bravecto, it is recommended that the dog be re-dosed. To help ensure that the dog does not vomit again, it is suggested to wait 24 hours until re-dosing. If 4 or more hours have passed before the vomiting occurs, it is likely that the medication has been absorbed and the dog is protected. If the vomiting repeats again, do not give a third chew, and call your veterinarian. If you suspect that a side effect has taken place as a result of giving the dog Bravecto, please report it to Merck Technical Services at 1-800-224-5318, and follow any advice that they provide.
A dog received a dose earlier than the 12 weeks. Is that okay?
It is always best to discuss your pets' medical treatment with your veterinarian. However, Bravecto has a high margin of safety. In safety studies, Bravecto was tested in healthy dogs and puppies at up to 5X the recommended dose at 8-week intervals for 3 treatments. Therefore, no adverse effects are expected if dogs are inadvertently treated twice with the recommended dose within 12 weeks, but please contact your veterinarian.
Is Bravecto recommended by veterinarians?
Yes. Bravecto Chew for Dogs is vet recommended for puppies and dogs 6 months of age or older who weigh at least 4.4. lbs., and Bravecto Topical for Cats is vet recommended for kittens and cats 6 months of age or older who weigh at least 2.6 lbs.
Recommended Dosage
Bravecto should be administered orally as a single dose every 12 weeks according to the Dosage Schedule below to provide a minimum dose of 11.4 mg/lb (25 mg/kg) body weight. Bravecto should be administered with food. Bravecto may be administered every 8 weeks in case of potential exposure to Amblyomma americanum ticks.
